In the late 1940's a wealthy tycoon from Houston Texas decided to open up a fine dining restaurant for his fishing buddies. He hired one of the best Chefs from Chicago to work in the summer. Every week he and his chef would fly in his private plane to pick-up produce from the San Joaquin Valley. The restaurant has always been fine dining and was only open in the summer until the mid 80's. The waiters wore tuxedos and all of the service was table side with a full bar. A lot of older locals in the area that have waited tables here and have many fond memories of this very special place.
The Restaurant at Convict Lake was always known as one of the finest restaurants in the Eastern Sierra and maintains that reputation today.
